Renal Service
The Armadale Health Service provides a comprehensive Renal Service that includes:
- pre-dialysis assessment and patient/carer education
- renal dialysis – acute and chronic haemodialysis
- dialysis access service - haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis
- renal transplant assessment and renal transplant follow up
- consultation liaison service to General Surgery, General Medicine, Psychiatry and Obstetrics and Gynaecology
- undergraduate/ post graduate teaching, training and research
- Renal Palliative Care.
The service can be accessed by patients:
- over the age of 16 with acute and chronic renal medicine needs requiring the care of a specialist Renal Physician
- who are not expected to deteriorate or require high level intensive care
- in end stage renal failure currently receiving renal dialysis (haemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis)
- on home dialysis therapies requiring medical care for dialysis and non-dialysis related issues
- presenting with dialysis access related problems
- whose care have been transferred from a tertiary hospital by their consultant.
